OUR CHARITY

We love being part of Chiddfest at St Wilfrid’s! It’s a highlight of our year, and we’re so grateful to Mark Thomas and his family for their ongoing support. We’ll be back in 2026 with our volunteers, collection buckets, and a stall full of vintage and pre-loved festival treasures.

Do come and say hello! We’re always happy to chat about our work and how you can get involved. St Wilfrid’s has been part of the Chiddfest story since the very first event in 2014, and the connection goes back even further! Anne Thomas helped raise funds for the hospice before it even opened. Her son Mark recently shared how it all began…

“She got invited to join a committee in the village to help raise money for the proposed new hospice. We are a farming family and on the property is a big barn; and it was used to hold a Caribbean-themed evening as a fundraiser. It was very successful, raising over £1,100 – we’re talking early 80s, so it was a good amount. After that, Mum continued with her involvement and St Wilfrid’s became, and still is, the charity that we championed. There are lots of other local good causes, but everyone knows someone who has been touched by the care of St Wilfrid’s and it seemed right that we should carry on supporting them after Mum’s early involvement. ‘Little did we know at that time that my dad, Bryan, would need their care years later. In fact, we had started planning our first music festival in 2014 when he died under the care of St Wilfrid’s.

OUR STORY

What began as a big idea shared among family and friends  has grown into one of Sussex’s most loved music festivals. Chiddfest started small fewer than 500 people gathered in a field to enjoy great music, good company, and summer sunshine. Fast forward to today, and over 3,500 festival-goers now join us each year for an unforgettable weekend of live music, laughter, and community spirit.

From the very beginning, Chiddfest has been about more than just the music. It’s about people bringing families, friends, and music lovers together to celebrate life and support a cause that truly matters. Every year, we proudly partner with St Wilfrid’s Hospice, raising awareness and vital funds for the incredible work they do.

Now, with two epic stages, a VIP lounge, family zones, and a growing lineup of incredible artists, Chiddfest continues to evolve while keeping its heart firmly rooted in community values.

Whether you come for the music, the atmosphere, or the memories, one thing’s for sure, you’ll leave with a smile, a story, and a reason to come back.
